Over the last decade, my family has enjoyed watching the action-adventure, and often heart-wrenching roller coaster ride of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Black Widow” is one of the next additions to the epic tale, featuring one of our favorite superheroes, Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow).
“Black Widow” is the action-packed spy thriller origin story for Scarlett Johannsen’s Black Widow character. The movie will launch simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access in most Disney+ markets on July 9, 2021.
In this segment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Natasha Romanoff (aka Black Widow) confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
The cast includes Scarlett Johansson (“Lucy”, “Lost in Translation”) who reprises her role as Natasha/Black Widow, Florence Pugh (“The Falling”) as Yelena, David Harbour (“Stranger Things”) as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz (“Constantine”, “The Mummy”) as Melina. The feature film is directed by Cate Shortland (“Lore”) and produced by Kevin Feige. “Black Widow” is the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
