Noricimo’s Adventure Journal: Day 1

PUG Log – Day 1
Today I decided to head out on a random boat from Protector’s Enclave, and while the breeze at sea was enjoyable, I learned we were headed to Svardborg to help stop a Frost Giant King.  Not my ideal vacation, but I pledged to help as best I could. I still haven’t learned the giant’s name, usually too busy just trying not to get killed by him. As we disembark off the ship, I realize I’d forgotten how cold this place is, so I secure my armor and clothing better for more warmth.  There is no time for me to figure out how experienced the others are before we charge in, all I can hope is that if I get stuck in ice someone will break me out. The ice warriors come at us and there is near zero visibility as total carnage erupts all around me. We destroy the initial ice warriors quickly, so the giant king then sends in his waves of armies.  Now people are starting to get trapped in ice, I help those I can and others in the group do the same, a good sign. We dispatch the armies that come at us from all sides, which of course makes the frost giant even more angry with us. Everyone runs for cover as he starts yelling out some large-scale magic attack. As the attack hits and the pillar shields us from the frozen death blowing around us, I’m thinking this is an experienced group.  However, the manticores have not arrived yet – the point of failure of other attempts I’ve had in this assault. We battle with the giant briefly, forcing him to bring out the manticores. I really dislike this part as the giant traps us in a frozen arena with a freezing wind vortex as the walls – there is really no place safe to run. Most of us focus on one and a pair distract the other, I’m beginning to wonder if I may be with an alliance group of some sort.  Things continue to go smoothly with my group’s teamwork and an assist from Princess Serissa, thus the north is saved…for now…time to run back to the ship and get back to warmer weather.
