SOLO Exceeded All My Expectations – Spoiler-Free Movie Review: SOLO – A Star Wars Story #HanSolo

After months of anticipation (and some skepticism), my husband and I attended an advanced screening of the movie, SOLO: A Star Wars Story. And guess what friends, I fell in love with my beloved Star Wars saga all over again! I thoroughly enjoyed the true PG-13 film, and cannot wait to hear how it compares to your exceptions. Check out this clip, for a glimpse into the delightful detail in Han Solo’s backstory. True Fans know that Han and Lando have a complicated ‘friendship’. How did you imagine Han meeting Lando for the first time?

When I first heard that a movie was being made featuring Han Solo’s origin-story, I was concerned that it would end up being a thin attempt at linking the complex stories and characters to the Star Wars Movie Collection. I had hoped for more than a simple movie, and did not want to see mere impersonations of Harrison Ford and the others. But, to my gleeful surprise, talented actors Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover’s rendition of younger Han Solo and Lando Calrissian were so seamless, that I instantly forgot about the original actors ‘Harrison Ford’ and ‘Billy Dee Williams’ and got lost in the characters themselves.

The high quality attention to details continue in every aspect of the movie, which makes for a wonderful adventure ride on the big screen. Director Ron Howard took over the reigns of the film, and led SOLO to success with his heartfelt movie magic.

The Star Wars saga and I go waaaaay back. As a kid in the 70/80’s, I can easily recall watching the original trilogy in the movie theater (Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi). Star Wars was my introduction to the fantastic world of Science-Fiction. I was completely enthralled with the charismatic characters (and humanoid robots!), dynamic story-line of plot twists, humor and intellect, and of course all the technology, space-age weapons and ships. Therefore, I had pretty high expectations for any movie that would join this respected collection.

I am fighting the urge to tell you all about SOLO, and instead am withholding my restraint so you can enjoy the movie with your own personal experience. If you liked my other favorites Rogue One (2016), The Last Jedi (2017) and The Force Awakens (2015), then you will enjoy SOLO and watching Han become the man that Princess Leia could not ignore.

Hopefully, these pictures and my enthusiasm satisfy your curiosity enough to head out to see SOLO: A Star Wars Story before any spoilers hit you.
