Star Wars has been near and dear to my heart since that opening scene when the GIGANTIC starship floated menacingly across the star-speckled sky in 1977. I was honored to receive an exclusive invitation to watch the movie and to share my thoughts on Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
I have to admit that my expectations were very high walking into this movie. My experience with the Star Wars stories are limited to the films, and I adore Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, R2, and the various characters throughout the Empire. Looking around the movie audience, I immediately felt a unique connection with the theater of strangers, especially those who were wearing various Star Wars t-shirts, a Chewbacca suit or carried a very fancy Boba Fett purse. The excited buzz from the seats immediately hushed when the lights dimmed and the familiar yellow letter opening crawl scrolled up the space backdrop, giving us a quick intro to the situation, and continued to fade out into the darkness of the universe.
In this installment of Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. Fellow fans, enjoy this amazing new featurette all about the new worlds in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI:
Star Wars: The Last Jedi grabbed us from the start, and kept us captivated at every turn.
X-Wing ships, the Dreadnaught, and more
My husband can probably name every single ship every shown on screen. I just enjoy the details and excitement that the battles bring to the story. This epic war between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance continues to wage on in space as well as on ground. These dynamic backdrops add breathtaking scenery which emphasizes the artistic talent of the overall film and photography. Each movie introduces new weapons, gear and story layers.
Fantastic Life-like Creatures!
Jim Henson’s creations continue to steal the screen and support the plot and characters in the story. Star Wars would not be complete without new magical creatures to add to the likes of the Ewoks, Tauntaun, Wookies, and all those aliens at the Mos Eisley cantina on Tatooine.
Casting the best talent to bring the dynamic characters to life was a success in this action-packed, drama, sci-fi, adventure movie.
These actors have a special place in my heart, for their part in this compelling tale depicting the Lightness and Darkness in all of us. The talented cast l ine-up also includes: royal highness Carrie Fisher, and dark Adam Driver. Seeing Carrie Fisher on screen for the last time was bittersweet. She will missed.
Star Wars Characters
A story could not span for decades and keep fans hungry for each following chapter, without interesting characters. Over the years, we have watched the development of Luke, Leia and Darth Vader pass the torch (or lightsaber…) to the next generation: Rey and Kylo Ren.
In these recent installments, I have grown more fascinated with their part of the tale, and loved watching Kylo Ren’s destiny unravel.
According to Stella Rating: Family Viewing Disclaimer (1/low – 5/high scale)
My 13-year old daughter chose to stay home. She is not a huge Star Wars fan, and only enjoys watching movies that have more humor and less drama.
1 – SEX/NUDITY – Zero. I did not even notice any scantily clad females.
3 – VIOLENCE/GORE – The PG-13 rating is appropriate for the fight scenes. There is no blood or gore, but several scenes include powerful weapons with close-range and long-range destruction. Death is implied, as characters are shot down, etc.
2 – PROFANITY – Mild obscenity. Closer to PG-rating in this category.
