Popcorn Picks: June

June 1, 2016 by Stella

Spread the love

Summer is HERE, so the action-packed blockbuster hits are going to start popping up like popcorn each weekend until the Fall Drama movie/Oscar-nom season begins. What are you excited to see this month?

As a movie blogger, I passionately enjoy sharing clips and news announcements for Disney and other up-and-coming movies with you. Our family calendar is usually filled with movie release dates as soon as they are posted. I even color-code them to reflect: family, hubby&I, and just me. We all have our individual tastes and love watching most of our movies on the big screen.

In January, I was squeeeeling with delight to announce Walt Disney Studios 2016 Motion Picture Line-up. Click on that link for the complete list of Disney Studios movie line-up.

My 11-year old daughter, Veronica prefers her movies to have a lighter feel, which automatically boots Marvel off her list. To see what I plan on viewing, check out my monthly Popcorn Picks, then come back later for my reviews.

Warcraft (PG-13)
Hubby and I have been serious gamers even before we met, and seeing Warcraft come alive on the big screen looks like so much fun!

LET THE FUN SUMMER MOVIES BEGIN!

Now You See Me 2 (PG-13)
I adore magic and smart movies, like ‘Oceans 11’ – so this type of movie is right up my alley. I loved the first NOW YOU SEE ME, and have hope that this sequel is just as captivating and entertaining.

The cast is remarkable, including: Daniel Radcliffe, Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson and Michael Caine. So my expectations are pretty high.

Finding Dory (PG)
In 2003, I fell in love with PIXAR’s FINDING NEMO. The story and characters were lovable and unforgettable. Quotes and scenes from the movie are easily recognizable as well – even the traumatizing ‘Darla’… shudder.

Now, we get to participate in a new adventure as Dory remembers her family, and grabs her friends to help her find them.

me before you poster

Me Before You (PG-13)
What happens when a somewhat misfit woman ends up taking care of a recently-paralyzed man?  A romantic, and probably heartbreaking movie that I want to see. Also, it doesn’t hurt that one of my ‘Game of Thrones’ favs, Emilia Clarke, stars in it.

I hope I don’t forget my tissues with this movie!

Independence Day 2 - poster

Independence Day: Resurgence (Rated TBD – maybe PG-13?)
Hubby and I are suckers for a good thrill. The original INDEPENDENCE DAY (1996) was a fun ride, with Will Smith and tons of action. Although Smith is not returning in this one, we still have Director Roland Emmerich some of the previous cast Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Judd Hirsh. But now an extra bonus: Liam Hemsworth!

Grab your popcorn, and I’ll see you at the movies. Please make mine plain, without any butter. Thank you.
