Summer is just around the corner (God-willing), so the action-packed blockbuster hits are going to start popping like popcorn each weekend until the Fall Drama movie/Oscar-nom schedule begins. What are you excited to see this month?
As a movie blogger, I passionately enjoy sharing clips and news announcements for Disney and other up-and-coming movies with you. Our family calendar is usually filled with movie release dates as soon as they are posted. I even color-code them to reflect: family, hubby&I, and just me. We all have our individual tastes and love watching most of our movies on the big screen.
In January, I was squeeeeling with delight to announce Walt Disney Studios 2016 Motion Picture Line-up. Click on that link for the complete list of Disney Studios movie line-up.
My 11-year old daughter, Veronica prefers her movies to have a lighter feel, which automatically boots Marvel off her list. To see what I plan on viewing, check out my monthly Popcorn Picks, then come back later for my reviews.

Marvel – Captain America: Civil War
My husband and I have enjoyed the recent Marvel universe films, and are anxious to see this ‘clash of titans’ before the colossal battle against Thanos and the culmination of the Infinity Stones. There has been much buzz about each character, movie and story line ever since Marvel and The Avengers kept popping up over the years. Now, as the individual superheroes’ continue to evolve and protect the world against external destruction, they eventually find themselves divided into #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan. Personally, this broke my heart and I still struggle picking sides…
Meanwhile, leading up to this movie release, back in March, The Science & Entertainment Exchange, a program of National Academy of Sciences announced an inspiring contest. “Girls Reforming the Future” was created for young girls to emulate positive world change for their generation and beyond through science and technology. In my article, “Marvel’s Grand Prize Winner Announced“, meet the winner and learn about about this fantastic concept.

The Angry Birds Movie
My daughter likes the Angry Bird games and also has watched some of the short episodes. I don’t mind going to see “The Angry Birds Movie” with her, because one of the bird’s name is Stella.
I just hope we have fun with this one as a family, and there are parts geared for the adults in the room.
The Nice Guys
I have liked Russell Crowe since “The Quick and the Dead” (1995), and although I am not a huge Ryan Gosling fan – he really impressed me in “The Big Short” last year. So, why do I care about this movie? Here’s why:
- Action + Comedy + Crime is my thing
- Russell Crowe
- Matt Bomer
- Director Shane Black has worked on some of my past favs: “Lethal Weapon” (1987), “The Monster Squad” (1987), and “The Last Boyscout” (1991)
This could either be hilariously funny, or painful to watch. What do you think?

X-Men: Apocalypse
I was not that familiar with the X-Men characters when the series first came out in 2000. Since then I have followed each movie as well as spin-off, like “Wolverine” (2009). Now, I can’t wait too what happens next! Plus, I adore several of the people involved with the film:
- Director: Bryan Singer
- James McAvoy
- Nicholas Hoult
- Michael Fassbender
- Rose Byrne
- Hugh Jackman
- Jennifer Lawrence
- Olivia Munn
- Sophie Turner
Grab your popcorn, and I’ll see you at the movies. Please make mine plain, without any butter. Thank you.
