A dear and close friend recently experienced an interesting chapter on her path to health and wellness. Enjoy my guest post from Eileen B:
I had a Dr.’s Appointment back in October and had blood work done. My Cholesterol was elevated, so was my Glucose and my thyroid was low. I was already on a Statin and have been on Thyroid Medicine for years (Levothyroxine) so my Dr. increased my dosage’s and wanted to put me on medicine for diabetes. I begged for another chance, honestly this wasn’t my first go around with high sugar. I really didn’t want to go on medication. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, being addicted to sugar is a hard thing to kick. It took a month but an friend recommended I check out a plant based diet and watch the movie FORKS OVER KNIVES. I’ve been eating a plant based diet since November 18th and I feel great!
I had another appointment with my Dr. (actually Nurse Practitioner) yesterday and I couldn’t wait to see if anything changed. Well it did!! My cholesterol was cut in half! My sugars are now in the normal range and my thyroid medication is being reduced!! I am going to half the Statin and am striving to get totally off it.
This was two days shy of 1 month so I can’t wait to see what happens in 3 months when I go back. Oh AND an add plus I lost 12 pounds!! I wasn’t in it to lose weight. A happy healthy lifestyle and feeling good in my skin doesn’t mean I have to be skinny, I like my curves. But I want to be healthy. I’m not hungry I eat a lot and the sugar cravings are gone.
