Veronica and I spent our girl’s night, seeing a movie we were very excited about!
The Peanuts crew have always been spotted on shirts, etc. but what happened to the comic series?
Snoopy, Woodstock and Charlie Brown were some of the most popular characters when I was growing up.
Although they may still appear in the Sunday Newspaper Comics, they are not recognizable characters as much as they had been.
Perhaps, the avalanche of cartoons, anime, and other animated stories over the last few decades buried the classics?
Then, over the summer, we saw The Peanuts Movie trailer!
My daughter was immediately mesmerized and she could not wait to see the movie. I was excited, but skeptical. My inner 10-year old wanted to see her friends again on the screen, but my adult-self was not sure the experience would match up to my beloved memories.
Enjoy my review:
I was very impressed with the look and feel of the entire movie. It stayed true to the original series, and yet was the latest modern computer animation.
In animated series, often the voice actors are different from the original episodes, which can be distracting and annoying.
The subtle differences in The Peanuts Movie voices did not matter. They did a great job, and I did not get stuck in my youthful memories.
My daughter’s only complaint was that many of the best parts were featured in the trailer. She thinks they revealed too much in the advertising.
