Thoughts on the new album, ‘Living in Oblivion’:
We’re amped to be releasing our latest record ‘Living in Oblivion’ on May 16th. Our approach to the recording process was slightly different to what we’ve done in the past. We aimed to maintain the rawness of the songs by using first and second takes of all the instruments as this is generally when you get the best stuff anyway. It’s quite easy to over think every song and redo take after take but we were mindful to keep that spontaneity. We also didn’t want to lose sight of the fact that as a duo, every song on this album began with us in a room with just drums and a guitar, just like we have done since we used to jam out as kids in our parents garage back in Australia.
With everything going on in the world at the moment, the title for the album ‘Living In Oblivion’ pretty much wrote itself. We have some positive, fun and uplifting songs like ‘Who Do You Love’ (first single), whereas ‘Turn It Around’ and ‘Silent Warnings’ have definitely been influenced by the current climate both here in the U.S and abroad. It’s a really interesting and exciting time to be an artist at the moment because there is so much happening that gets those creative juices flowing.
We’re looking forward to hitting the road throughout summer and getting this music out to the world.
