Growing up, one of my favorite movies was the animated Disney movie, Jungle Book (1967):
I loved that movie soooo much, that I not only made a mix cassette tape (for my Walkman), recorded songs and added those to my VHS video clip collection, but I also transcribed some of my favorite songs! [Just ask my mom or any of my close friends about my King Louie or Vulture sketch… thank God Facebook/internet did NOT exist then! lol]
Apparently, there are other versions of The Jungle Book. None of these other movies were as good as my favorite, as far as I was concerned. [Sequels do not count… they are usually a category of their own caliber…]
Then, I saw the newest live-action Jungle Book teaser trailer!
I was excited to see the new version, but also anxious… MY animated 1967 Jungle Book had a few scary parts, but was fun and silly with wonderful songs.
Last night, my anxiety deepened with the new full trailer…
… sigh. The casting is PERFECT (Bill Murray as Baloo, Scarlett Johannsen as Kaa, etc. Official Disney Jungle Book (2016) link for more information).
But in this rendition, all the ‘cuddly’ wild animals are REALISTIC and ferocious. I don’t know if I want to see a REAL Kaa strangle Mowgli, or a REAL fight between Baloo and Shere Khan…
Pretty intense…
What are your thoughts??
